Description

Greek Scenework Demonstration is a practical theatre presentation that explores the performance conventions, aesthetics, and dramatic traditions of Ancient Greek theatre. The demonstration introduces students to the distinctive features of Greek drama, including the use of chorus, masks, stylized movement, declamation, spatial composition, and ritualistic performance techniques. Drawing inspiration from classical tragedies and comedies, the presentation emphasizes themes of fate, morality, heroism, and human conflict while examining the relationship between performers, chorus, and audience. As part of the National School of Drama's practical training program, the demonstration develops students' understanding of classical acting styles, ensemble performance, vocal projection, physical expression, and the historical foundations of Western theatre.
