Description
Costume Demonstration is an educational theatre presentation conducted under the guidance of Pratima Pandey, showcasing the essential role of costume in theatrical performance. Featuring demonstrations by Chandrika and Biswajit, the session introduces students to the principles of costume design, including character interpretation, historical and cultural authenticity, fabric selection, colour harmony, silhouette, and stage functionality. Through practical examples and live demonstrations, participants gain an understanding of how costumes contribute to character development, visual storytelling, and the overall aesthetic of a production. As a component of theatre education at the National School of Drama, the demonstration emphasizes the creative, technical, and collaborative aspects of costume design while developing students' appreciation of costume as an integral element of stagecraft and performance.
