Salim Arif is an Indian theatre director, playwright, and designer, widely associated with contemporary Hindi theatre and the National School of Drama, New Delhi. His work is known for reinterpreting classical and literary texts through an Indian socio-cultural lens, with strong emphasis on visual composition, music, movement, and ensemble performance. As the director of Dil-e-Nadan, he adapted and conceived William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night for an Indian context, shaping the production as both an artistic exploration and a pedagogical exercise for student actors, blending classical dramaturgy with indigenous theatrical sensibilities.
