| dc.description.abstract | Othello is one of William Shakespeare's major tragedies, first performed around 1604. Set primarily in Venice and Cyprus, the play follows Othello, a respected Moorish general in the Venetian army, whose secret marriage to Desdemona becomes the target of the manipulative Iago. Through deception, jealousy, and psychological manipulation, Iago convinces Othello that Desdemona has been unfaithful. Consumed by suspicion and rage, Othello murders his innocent wife before discovering the truth, leading to his own tragic downfall. | |
