| dc.description.abstract | Macbeth is one of William Shakespeare's greatest tragedies, believed to have been written around 1606. The play tells the story of Macbeth, a brave Scottish general whose encounter with three witches awakens his ambition to become king. Encouraged by Lady Macbeth, he murders King Duncan and seizes the throne. Consumed by guilt, fear, and paranoia, Macbeth commits further acts of violence to secure his power, ultimately leading to tyranny, madness, and his downfall. | |
