Abstract
The Casket is a direction scenework presented by the Final Year Direction students of the National School of Drama. Directed by Rajnish Kumar and based on a story by Shamoel Ahmed, the production was developed under the guidance of Neelam Maansingh Choudhary. It featured performances by Amogh, Aparna, Priyadarshini, Anjali, Rajkishor, Deepak, Puneet, and Manoj. The production was staged at Bahumukh, NSD Campus, New Delhi, on 5 October 2023 at 6:30 PM as part of the students' practical direction training.
Description
Neelam Maansingh Choudhary is one of India's most distinguished theatre directors, known for integrating traditional Indian performance traditions with contemporary theatre practices. As the production guide, she supervised the artistic and pedagogical development of the scenework.
Rajnish Kumar directed The Casket as part of the Final Year Direction programme at the National School of Drama. The production reflects his practical training in directing, script interpretation, staging, and collaborative theatre-making under the mentorship of senior theatre practitioner Neelam Maansingh Choudhary.
