Abstract
A student direction scenework project focusing on theatrical design and conceptual development, created as part of theatre training at the National School of Drama under faculty guidance.
Description
Direction Scenework is a practical theatre exercise that focuses on the art and process of stage direction through the presentation of selected dramatic scenes. Rather than staging a complete play, the production explores the director's creative interpretation of a text by emphasizing blocking, actor movement, spatial composition, pacing, visual storytelling, and coordination of theatrical elements. Developed as part of the National School of Drama's Direction programme, the scenework provides students with hands-on experience in translating dramatic ideas into stage performance while integrating acting, design, lighting, sound, and stagecraft. It serves as an academic exercise that strengthens directorial skills, collaborative practice, and an understanding of the principles of theatrical production.
