Abstract
Lighting Scenework is a practical theatre training exercise that introduces students to the principles and techniques of stage lighting. The demonstration explores how light functions as a visual language in performance by shaping space, directing audience attention, establishing mood, defining time and atmosphere, and supporting dramatic action.
Description
Souti Chakraborty is a theatre lighting designer and educator associated with the National School of Drama. With experience in stage lighting, technical theatre, and lighting pedagogy, Chakraborty has mentored students in the practical application of lighting design for theatre. The training emphasizes creative problem-solving, visual storytelling, and the effective integration of lighting with direction, scenography, and performance to enhance the overall theatrical experience.
