Abstract
The Dining Table is a direction scenework presented by the Final Year Design and Direction students of the National School of Drama. Designed and directed by Shekhar Kanwat, the production is adapted from Harold Pinter's Interview. It was developed under the guidance of Neelam Maansingh Choudhary with assistant guidance from Vansh Bhardwaj. The performance featured Manoj Yadav and Owes Md. Khan and was staged at Bahumukh, National School of Drama, New Delhi, on 16 October 2023 at 6:30 PM as part of the practical direction training programme.
Description
Neelam Maansingh Choudhary is one of India's most distinguished theatre directors, known for integrating traditional Indian performance traditions with contemporary theatre practices. As the production guide, she supervised the artistic and pedagogical development of the scenework.
Shekhar Kanwat is a theatre practitioner and Final Year Design and Direction student at the National School of Drama. In The Dining Table, he served as both the designer and director, interpreting Harold Pinter's text into a stage production. The work reflects his training in stage composition, dramatic adaptation, visual storytelling, and performance direction under the mentorship of Neelam Maansingh Choudhary.
