Abstract
Movements Demonstration is a practical theatre-training presentation designed to showcase students' learning in movement-based performance. Rather than presenting a scripted dramatic work, movement demonstrations emphasize physical expression, body awareness, rhythm, spatial relationships, balance, coordination, gesture, and non-verbal communication. Such presentations form an essential component of actor training, enabling students to develop expressive physical skills that support character creation, stage presence, and ensemble performance.
Description
Gayatri Deka is an Indian theatre practitioner, movement trainer, and theatre educator associated with the National School of Drama. She specializes in actor training through movement, body conditioning, and physical performance techniques. As the guide for this Movement Demonstration, she supervised the first-year students in developing physical awareness, expressive movement, ensemble coordination, and stage discipline. Her pedagogical approach emphasizes the body as a primary instrument of theatrical expression, helping students integrate movement with dramatic performance.
