Abstract

Tani La Tanyo is a Theatre-in-Education production by the National School of Drama based on a traditional folk tale from Arunachal Pradesh. The play introduces audiences to the rich cultural heritage, folklore, and indigenous traditions of Northeast India through an engaging blend of storytelling, music, movement, and theatrical performance. It highlights themes of courage, wisdom, harmony with nature, and community values while fostering cultural awareness and appreciation among young audiences.

Description

Tani La Tanyo is a children's Theatre-in-Education production inspired by a traditional folk tale from Arunachal Pradesh. The play introduces audiences to the cultural heritage, beliefs, and storytelling traditions of the indigenous communities of Northeast India through an engaging blend of drama, music, movement, and visual performance. Centered on the relationship between humans, animals, and nature, the story explores themes of courage, wisdom, cooperation, respect for tradition, and harmonious coexistence with the environment. Designed primarily for young audiences, the production promotes cultural diversity, environmental awareness, and moral values while preserving and celebrating India's rich folk traditions through the medium of theatre.
